The change from vehicle-bound laptops to portable tablets made it easier for Ada County Sheriff’s Office’s deputies to be productive.

Rugged tablets have steadily gained ground in applications where rugged notebooks or laptops were formerly the device of choice. In law enforcement applications specifically, tablets have the added appeal of making it easier for users to take their technology with them when they leave the vehicle.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho has upgraded its cruisers with rugged Motion by Xplore F5 tablets, along with new in-vehicle docks and desktop mounts. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is the largest law enforcement agency in Idaho. Its deputies patrol the entire county (1,164 square miles) as well as the cities of Eagle, Kuna, and Star, and manage the county jail and 911 emergency dispatch center.
