By Brian Albright, Field Technologies magazine
Geofencing has emerged as an important feature of location-based applications, providing new value to fleet operators and field service companies.
Geofencing, an increasingly common feature of locationbased fleet and workforce management solutions, is emerging as an enabling technology in its own right and is poised to play a role in the development of new types of applications. According to a recent report from ABI Research (Geofencing: Technologies, Applications, and Revenue Strategies), low-cost developer’s tools are helping geofencing move from location- based apps to new applications and services. The market for provisioning of geofencing tools is expected to reach $300 million in 2017.

Now that GPS technology is available across mobile device types and new geofencing tools have emerged, that is starting to change.
